Full text search

Ask IGOR^AI is able to automatically index the full text of open-access scientific articles, patents (written in English), and information from webpages that have been added to the Universe through the browser extension. Ask IGOR^AI can also index information from PDF, .docx, or .pptx files that are manually uploaded to a document. Accessing information from full text allows Ask IGOR^AI to extract more detailed information than from the abstract (and/or claims) alone.

The following information is true of Scientific Articles, Patents, and Webpages:

How to enable full-text extraction?

Ask IGOR^AI full text extraction is automatically toggled on in the Ask IGOR^AI modal view and can be toggled off if desired.

How do I know if the full text was indexed?

In our Linked Documents view we show an Open Access icon next to the title of a document when it has an Open Access copyright license, which means the full text is available either on the external page itself or through a download button. N.B.: The exact details regarding the usage of these files differs per publisher.

Successful Indexing

When an open access article, patent, or webpage has been successfully indexed, a green icon with a checkmark over a document will appear under the title in the Linked Documents list. Within the abstract modal view there will be a box that states that the full text has been indexed.

Full Text Not Available

If the full text of an article, patent, or webpage is not available, a grey icon with a lock over the document will be found beneath the document title in the Linked Documents list. For science articles that are not open access, the orange lock will also be missing. In the abstract modal view, it will state that the full text was not indexed due to restrictions. If you or your company has access to the full text pdf, you may upload this file to the document (see How to attach a file to a document?).
